China’s Mideast Interests And Challenges

LINK TO VIDEO China’s Ambassador to Israel Du Wei was found dead in his residence last week. While there was seemingly no foul play involved, the timing was curious. Ambassador Du only arrived in Israel three months ago at the height of the coronavirus outbreak in his country, and his death came just days after a visit to Jerusalem by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo – whose purpose was partly to urge Jerusalem to avoid trade arrangements with Beijing that could threaten Washington’s national security. What are China’s interests and ambitions in the Middle East and how does Israel maneuver between these global giants? Panel: – Jonathan Hessen, Host. – Amir Oren, Analyst. – Mr. Robert Silverman, Lecturer at Shalem College and Former President of the American Foreign Service Association – Colonel Reuven Ben-Shalom, cross-cultural strategist and associate at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism
