More than a month after Operation Guardian of the Walls ended, the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has not been stabilized. No mechanism has been established for rebuilding the structures and streets destroyed in Gaza during the recent fighting. The monthly infusion of cash from Qatar was frozen, pending the verification that it only be used for salaries and civilian projects – not for Hamas preparations for the next round of hostilities. Within the Hamas leadership, Yahya Sinwar’s power is less secure than it used to be. What does it all mean to the new team at the helm in Jerusalem?
