The recent mapping of New Zealand’s continental crust could redefine maritime boundaries in the Pacific. New Zealand has sovereign rights over a vast area of ocean, along with the fishery, mineral and petroleum resources that may exist in that area. This falls into a balance of regional players of Asia, China , EU and America.
