This year 2023 PLO summer camps teach dead terrorists as “Moons” in the skies of “Palestine”

This year, the PLO council’s official summer camps will focus on dead terrorists, or as they are known in PA terminology, “Martyrs,” under the slogan “Moons and Not Numbers,” according to the Director-General of the PLO Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Muhammad Sbeihat.

Nablus’ Old City has emerged as a hub of armed Arab Israeli terrorists. Six-armed terrorist groups operate in northern Judea & Samaria (West Bank). In the Jenin area, there is the Jenin Battalion, the Jabba groups, the Kabatya groups and the Birkin groups. In the Nablus area, there is the Lions’ Den and the Balata Battalion’.

Children and teenagers in the Palestinian Authority (PA) territories attended summer camps organized by the PLO’s Higher Council for Youth and Sports. Around 42,000 boys and girls participated in the 600 campsites, which this year had the theme “Al-Masra wal-Asra,” or “the place of Al-Isra (Al-Aqsa) and the prisoners,” which were held in the Judea & Samaria (West Bank), the Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem. The PA’s ministries of education and culture and regional municipalities were among the organizations taking part in the summer camp program.

Jibril Rajoub, head of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports and secretary-general of the Fatah Central Committee, made the following announcement at the joint opening ceremony for the camps in the town of Silwad near Ramallah: “Here in Silwad, the town of prisoners and martyrs, we announce the opening of the 2022 summer camps, titled ‘Al-Masra wal-Asra.'” This imaginative representation captures the values and aspirations of all Palestinians. The summer camps aim to serve as a “melting pot” where the national Palestinian doctrine is the foundation for forming the children’s awareness. At the opening ceremony, Qadoura Fares, the chair of the Prisoners Club, said: “The summer camp program strengthens our children’s knowledge and instills in them a love for the homeland.”

Indoctrination instilling extremist values such as respect for terrorists serving life sentences for murder, glorification of martyrdom and death, and the idea of Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, which denies the existence of Israel, went hand in hand with the recreational and entertainment activities at the camps.

Well-Funded, Armed and Trained, But Leaderless ?

These terrorist groups claiming to be leaderless, keeps their supporters, Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the PA hands clean in the terrorist operations.  

On January 9, 2023, the official media office of Qais Al-Khazali, Secretary-General of the Iran-backed Iraqi ‘Asaib Ahl Al-Haq militia, reported that on the same day, in his office in Baghdad, Al-Khazali met with Major General Jibril Rajoub, an emissary from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Rajoub is Secretary General of the Fatah Central Committee and Head of the PLO Supreme Council for Sport and Youth Affairs.

According to the Shin Bet, Hamas is investing in recruiting Israeli Arab citizens with one parent who was born in Gaza or Judea and Samaria, to assist in carrying out terrorist acts and gathering intelligence. In some cases, the recruitment took place while the Israeli persons were visiting their PA and Gaza Arab relatives, taking advantage of their feelings of identification with their family amid security tensions.

Every year, tens of thousands of children and adolescents attend summer camps in the Palestinian Authority (PA). The Nablus branch of Fatah recently held summer camps for children and adolescents in the village of Bayta, south of the city. Videos of camp activities posted to the Palestinian social media showed the youth, some of them armed with rifles, undergoing military training, including urban warfare tactics, hand-to-hand combat and negotiating obstacle courses. They were trained by operatives of the Palestinian security forces and local armed Fatah operatives, who remained masked for the pictures. The Palestinian social media posted videos of camp activities. The counselors wear Fatah armbands and coordinate the campers’ military training.

Israel must shut down these youth summer camps, which are only a front for terrorist training. Jerusalem can no longer stand idly by and do little to nothing. It is time for Washington and the international community to stop whitewashing these issues and recognize these camps are part of a destructive matrix not only to the Israeli—Arab Palestinian peace process but the Mid-east as well. These camps infect Arab youths with genocidal hatred, making it impossible to bridge coexistence between Israeli Jews and Arabs.
