The Abu Nidal Organization, officially Fatah – The Revolutionary Council, was an Arab Palestinian militant group founded by Abu Nidal in 1974 (ANO), a.k.a. Arab Revolutionary Brigades; Arab Revolutionary Council; Black September; Fatah Revolutionary Council; Revolutionary Organization of Socialist Muslims. International terrorist organization led by Sabri al-Banna. Split from PLO in 1974. The ANO carried out terrorist attacks in 20 countries, killing or injuring almost 900 persons. Targets included the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Israel, moderate Palestinians, and various Arab countries.

In 2006, State Dept. declassified documents revealing Yasser Arafat was behind the attack on the US embassy in Sudan. The attack was carried out on March 1, 1973. According to a declassified State Department document, eight “Black September Organization” terrorists seized the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Khartoum as a diplomatic reception honoring the departing United States Deputy Chief of Mission. After the takeover, the terrorists kidnapped US Ambassador Cleo Noel, his deputy George Curtis Moore, and the two deputy ambassadors of Belgium and Jordan. In return for the freedom of the hostages, the terrorists demanded the release of various individuals, primarily Arab Palestinian guerrillas, imprisoned in Jordan, Israel, and the United States. The US refused to release any terrorists; Arafat then ordered the execution of US Ambassador Cleo Noel and his deputy George Curtis Moore.
Arab Palestinians Fought US Troops in the 1991 Gulf War Abu Nidal resided in Iraq under the protection of Saddam Hussein ( Nidal died in Iraq in 2003)—Saddam-funded Arab Palestinian terrorists to fight against Israel. Many Arab Palestinian terrorist groups lived and operated out of Iraq (and Iran), such as Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. They fought with Iraq forces against America and allied forces in the 1991 Gulf War. Some 200,000 Arab Palestinians were living in Kuwait when Saddam Hussein invaded, and PLO leader Yasser Arafat sided with Saddam. Arab Palestinians living in Kuwait followed Arafat and fought with Iraqi troops and fought against US and allied forces, too.

One was a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Mohammed A. Salameh; he was captured and convicted and is still in prison.
The Palestine Liberation Front Hijacking An Italian Liner, The Achille Lauro . The Killing Of Leon Klinghoffer, A 69-Year-Old Jewish New Yorker Who Had Been Confined To A Wheelchair.
Arab Palestinians hijacked a cruise ship in October 1985; members of the Palestine Liberation Front hijacked an Italian liner, the Achille Lauro, during a Mediterranean cruise and took more than 400 passengers and crew members hostage. Many of the passengers were American—and they received the roughest treatment during the two-day ordeal.
The hijackers, armed with hand grenades and Soviet submachine guns, separated American and British passengers from those of other nationalities. They placed gas cans nearby and said they’d kill these hostages first if their political demands, including the release of 50 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israel, weren’t met.
Then they followed through with their threat, killing the American who was perhaps least able to defend himself: Leon Klinghoffer, a 69-year-old Jewish New Yorker who had been confined to a wheelchair since a stroke disabled him. The terrorists shot him in the head and threw his body and his wheelchair into the sea.
